Liveoutside garden products are committed to innovative product development and manufacturing. Our products are manufactured to the highest standards. Advanced treatment process with permanent wood preservative provides complete protection against rot and insect attack for up to 10 years. Please notice that 10 years guarantee applies only to products which have no contact with the ground. Otherwise durability of the wood is reduced.

The life of a building depends upon it's foundations. It is vitally important that your base is firm, level, square and large enough to accommodate the building you have ordered. Ideally, your garden building should be installed on a flat concrete slab which is unlikely to sink or break up. A thickness of 50 to 100mm is required, depending upon the size and type of building that you have ordered. As an alternative, concrete paving slabs or decking bases may be laid but they should still be level, unlikely to sink at any point and completely cover the area of base required. If you have any doubts concerning the base seek advice from a local builder.

All of the timbers are pressure impregnated using the most advanced formulation of permanent wood preservative which guarantees our products for many years against decay, weathering and insect attack.

Pressure treatment is a lifetime preservative treatment. The preservative is forced into the timber under pressure in a vacuum and penetrates below the surface. All other treatments apply a coat of stain to the surface of the timber only. With pressure impregnated timber, the chemicals are permanently fixed in the wood.

Carports: everything you need to know

Adding a carport to your property is a fantastic way of maximising space and improving kerb appeal; modern designs are stylish, practical and hassle-free, and our bespoke wooden collection is environmentally friendly too. Carports also have numerous benefits over garages, allowing air to circulate freely around your vehicle or caravan, for instance, thus minimising damp or mould during the harsh winter months. If you've never considered a carport, here is our lowdown on everything you need to know.

What about planning permission?

Unlike some garages, such as those attached to the wall of an existing property, you will most likely not need planning permission to erect a carport, meaning installation can happen as quickly as you need. The exception to this is if the carport you require takes up more than 50% of the entire ground floor of your home. Even in this instance, however, permission is not always needed and we can advise you accordingly.

Are there limits on size?

UK regulations state that carports must not exceed 2.5m in height and must be single-storey with no balconies or overhangs. In terms of length and width, you can choose whichever size of structure fits your needs. Our extensive carport collection ranges from smaller single vehicle structures up to larger designs which can house a number of vehicles, vans or caravans. We can also design a bespoke carport to precisely fit your needs: over 50% of our buildings are tailored upon customer request.

Will adding a carport increase the value of my property?

Carports are undoubtedly highly thought-of by potential buyers as they maximise space and can be used not just for housing vehicles, but also offering an alfresco entertaining area in poor weather, a shaded play space for children and extra storage solutions.

What are Liveoutside carports made from?

All of our carports are made from high quality timber, which as well as looking fantastic, also offers a much more eco-friendly solution than using plastics or metals. The wood we use in our builds is all covered with a water-based preservative, Tanalith E, which effectively protects the fibres and leads to a longer life. Indeed, we are so confident that you won't experience any decay in your carport that all of our designs come with a 10-year guarantee against rot.
